The world can often feel toxic, stressful and really overwhelming. Building a business and brand online takes a lot of energy and life is often lifeing these days. One of the ways I’ve been able to stay focused on my goals and what I’m trying to build is by focusing on having peace in my life. Why are so many people building businesses that mimic or copy the worst things about the jobs they left or are hoping to leave? It’s actually not that difficult to add peace into your life, you just have to commit to the idea. Here are some strategies to help you add peace into your online business life in 2026.

Show Notes
- Personal peace has to be a core value that is designed as a through-line through your business organizational design.
- Managing your reactions when annoying things come up. This one is HUGE. I wait before I respond to annoying or strongly worded emails, etc.
- Setting boundaries and not wavering around what they are is non-negotiable.
- Scheduling vacations and off-time that you actually take. At the end of 2025, I spent 5 days (seriously) focusing on what my year would look like in 2026 and vacations, social media breaks, and general time off was a huge priority to get on my schedule. I also added vacations and trips NOT related to conferences to my schedule. You can listen to my “How I Planned Out My 2026” episode and I’ve included a link in this episode’s show notes.
- Work rules that you share with your audience and have written down. Things such as:
- No emails over the weekend. By the way, you can decide when the weekend happens in your business. For me that’s Friday through Sunday. Very rarely would I respond to emails during the weekend unless I’m running an event.
- No responding to emails before 9:00 am MTN or after 3:00 pm MTN time
- Blocking negative people on social quickly and moving on.
- Identifying what brings you joy and prioritizing having it in your life. This depends on the person. Here are some of my joyful experiences. These are things where I’m the participant, I’m not running the event or experience.
- Spending time in the mountains
- Checking out coffee shops
- Hot tubs or hot springs
- Hot Yoga or dance classes
- Spending time in nature
- Reading
- Meeting new people
- Travel
- Doing fun random stuff around town.
- Exploring my region
- Pausing before giving an answer-As a rule, I always assert that I need time before I can provide a thoughtful answer. It could be to a request to do something, attend an event, etc. I say “No” in my head first, tell (not ask) the person asking when I will be able to provide the answer to their request or question. This process has never failed me.
- Staying aligned in my values-I avoid going against my values. Every time I do, things get f#cked up.
- Batch your content and build a buffer into your work week. There are times when I’m completely disinterested in making content or being active online. Maybe I just don’t feel like showing up or I just want to spend time with family and friends. Having a buffer of content of a minimum of 2 weeks is one of the ways that I eliminate stressing myself out and running around at the last minute.
- Reshare and market what you’ve already worked on. I have years of content that I’ve worked on-it makes no sense not to share what I’ve always done.
- Earn more money-The years where I earn more money in the easiest ways possible are my absolute favorite years. Broke years (and I have had many) are the least peaceful years when building a brand (they can be incredibly creative and impactful ones though)
Peace is non-negotiable during a time when there are people trying to control how you show up in the world. Adding peace also is a reflection of your ability to manage your emotions during the moments when people really piss you off. Cultivating peace is also a reflection of your emotional intelligence. Know when people are trying to suck you dry and bait you in the moment.
